As some of you may be aware, I monitor the forum's activity with a tool aptly named Google Analytics. For the rest of you, Google Analytics is a reasonably robust tool, and it measures such things as visitor trends (number of visitors a week, where they're from, and what browser they're using), traffic sources (are visitors coming from google, or is Home Planet their homepage?), and content viewing trends (which areas of the forum are the most viewed, aka most active). Now, to some of you this may sound almost futuristic, or "Big Brother"-esque. But really, this kind of monitoring goes on on a much more intrusive scale on a huge number of sites you probably visit every day. So, why am I bringing this up? It came to my attention that perhaps some of the members of this board may be uncomfortable or uneasy with the sort of things I monitor. I also realize that even giving my word might not be enough to convince you that I'm not secretly tracking your IP and finding out where you live. Rest assured I'm not, though. That aside, for the sake of pure and utter transparency, I'd like to begin the weekly habit of posting excerpts from the reports I receive to let the rest of you know just how well (or not well) the forum is currently doing. This will include information such as the number of visitors this week vs last week, where our visitors are from (no detailed information), and such things. It will NOT include sensitive information such as IP's, specific locations, and other data that could put our users at risk. Note: If any of the Admins want these reports sent to them weekly (I believe Ejiblahbahaba is already receiving them), just send me a PM, or catch me on skype and I can set that up for you. Also, if any other user wants specific statistics on the forum as generated by these reports, send me a PM with the specific information you wish to have/use and why, and I'll use my admin-ary discretion to determine if the information is something you should have ^^
